COMPANY HISTORY Mr. Jack Hynes CEO, started our company in 1970 in the ship repair business, originally working exclusively for Crosbie Shipping, carrying out the maintenance and repairs on several small general cargo vessel's which were mainly trading between Montreal, East Coast and the Arctic. After a couple of years of experience under his belt, he ventured out on his own offering a full range of repair services to the local shipping community, predominantly with foreign vessel trading in our area. Since 1970 we have grown to be the largest privately owned topside ship repair facility in Eastern Canada, with our head office and main plant located in Montreal with operates 24 hours, 7 days a week throughout the entire East Coast and Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway System. Well respected with the marine community, we presently represent MAN B & W Diesel and SKL. We are the only Det Nerske Veritas (DNV) certified workshop in Canada. Our firm is certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) and our welders are tested on an annually to ensure quality. In addition to our steel, machine shop, pipe, mechanical, diesel, electrical and refrigeration services, we have recently upgraded our surface preparation and coatings division, by investing in an Ultra High Waterjetting (40,000 psi) state of the art robotic equipment. To meet the increasing demand for alternatives to abrasive blasting, we have found ourselves opening a new company based in Freeport, Bahamas, Environmental Coating Services Ltd., which carries out all surface preparation on the island. Having recently purchased and installed a new computer controlled Plasma Cutting Table, (which is the largest of its kind in Montreal) installed in our newly expanded 76,000 sq. ft facility, and allows us to work more efficiently and precisely. Over the years our team has lead the industry, by introducing several innovative methods of steel installation, from using bulb flats (reducing weight and cost) and robotic stiffener welding, ceramic one-side welding and containerized welding units which can be installed directly in the cargo hold, in an ongoing effort to control costs. Our highly skilled, progressive technicians and management team leads Mount Royal / Walsh Inc. to continuously grow to be the most widely recommended ship repair facility in our area. We have and will continue to meet the necessities of our clients along with providing them with the finest service.
